“I no longer live in Bedfordshire, but I was so impressed with the maternity care I received during previous pregnancies, I decided to return to Bedford Hospital to have my third child. As always, staff communication was excellent, I was consistently kept informed and I felt extremely comfortable in the hands of such caring and professional staff.” Lisa West, Northampton

“I attended Bedford Hospital for an operation on my hand and was admitted to Howard ward under Mr Handley. I am writing to thank all the staff involved for the excellent treatment that I received. Each person involved including the surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing and ancillary staff made my stay as pleasant as possible and I came away feeling that I had received the highest possible standard of care.” (Extract from a letter to the chief executive)

“I would like to thank everybody for the kindness and understanding I received when I had my hip replacement. Right from seeing Mr Sood in outpatients I was treated with kindness and compassion. During my stay in Howard ward all the nurses were very helpful. The ward was clean and the meals were good.” (Extract from a letter to the chief executive)

Stroke Care

“The staff I encountered in both the accident and emergency department and [Howard] Stroke unit were absolutely fantastic. I was treated with great care and professionalism and felt that the staff really understood what I was going through. I also observed how other patients in Victoria ward were treated and was touched by how sensitive, reassuring and kind all staff were; nothing was too much trouble.” (Extract from a letter to the chief executive)
