Whitbread Ward is situated on the ground floor of the main ward block. Its entrance is opposite the entrance to Cygnet Wing.
Whitbread Ward is a 12-bedded unit compromising of two bays, one for male patients, one female patients and two side rooms. Whitbread Ward looks after patients with general surgical, vascular and urology symptoms. It is open 24 hours per day every day of the year.
Whitbread Ward admits emergency surgical patients to the hospital who have been referred via A&E or their GP. When patients arrive on Whitbread Ward they will be evaluated by skilled staff and, following assessment, will either be able to be discharged home or will be transferred to the main hospital.
Privacy and Dignity
For more information about how the hospital is working to eliminate mixed-sex sleeping, toilet and washing facilities, please visit the privacy and dignity pages of the website.
Visiting Times
Visiting times on the ward are 2pm to 4.30pm and 6.15pm to 8.15pm. Visiting is not permitted between 4.15pm and 6.30pm unless by prior arrangement and agreement with ward staff. Please be aware that, for health and safety reasons, flowers and plants are not permitted on the ward, and only two visitors are permitted per bed.
If you would like to assist with the care of your relative outside of normal visiting hours, please speak to the nurse in charge.
