Orchard (Gynaecology) Ward

Description of the department:
The gynaecology ward cares for ladies who are having gynaecological operations both planned and as an emergency. We have a 24 hour emergency room where we can see patients who are referred by their GP or A&E with early pregnancy problems.
Daily from 2pm – 5.30pm and 6.15pm – 8pm
Visiting is not permitted between 5.30pm and 6.15pm unlessby prior arrangement and agreement with ward staff. This is to ensure patients have uninterrupted timein which to eat their evening meal. All visiting outside designated visiting hours must be agreed with the nurse in charge.
If you would like to assist with the care of your relative outside of normal visiting hours, please speak to the nurse in charge.

Protected Meal times:
Breakfast: 8.00 am – 9.15 am
Lunch: 12.00 pm – 1.15 pm
Evening meal: 5.30 pm – 6.15 pm

Valuables and Property:
Please note the Trust cannot be held liable for your valuables and property during your hospital stay. Please do not bring jewellery, valuables or large sums of money into hospital, as we cannot be held responsible for their safety. You will only need a small amount of money for such things as newspapers and soft drinks. A cash machine, should you need it, is available in the hospital’s Kempston Road reception area.
Please note that space is very limited on the wards and thieves do target public places such as hospitals.
