Bedford Hospital NHS Trust experiences busiest A&E period in history
July 12, 2017
Bedford Hospital is experiencing the busiest A&E period in its history with ever increasing acuity of patients and has continued to face these challenges on a daily basis without turning patients away.
All patients arriving at our A&E department are seen in order of clinical need. On Monday(10 July) we saw over 280 attendances at our A&E department with approximately 30% of attendances that could have been treated in the community. As we are exceptionally busy at present we strongly encourage patients to consider whether they can access the care they need from their GP, a pharmacist or local Walk-In Centre before coming to A&E.
